Burlap Banner
One day I was having an itch to fill an empty spot above my
kitchen sink with some crafty wall art. The previous renters of our apartment
had left two nails in the wall spaced just under two feet apart, and I just had
to do something to make the most of it.
I knew I wanted to use a spoon shaped like a heart that
wouldn't work as well as my others for cooking purposes, so I could try to
incorporate it into this DIY!
That's when I settled on some wordage for the banner I wanted to
place on the wall.
"Let's spoon"
Final Product |
Not only is spooning my husband's and my favorite type of cuddle,
but it also makes the usage of the spoon next to the sign a little punny, and I
LOVE puns. This seemed to be the perfect craft for our home!
I started by cutting out burlap rectangles for the individual
letters, and I free-handed each letter (which lead to some sloppiness).
twisted string around nail |
I hot glued the triangles around some brown string, and
after it was all together, I just wrapped the extra long ends of the string to
the old nails in the wall.
The final result is not professional, nor 100% rave-worthy,
but it looks great in our kitchen, and fits our personalities perfectly.
Wow! I love crafts, and I think that your "spooning" idea is brilliant.
